And another icon bites the dust... sorta...

It was announced today that NBC Universal will now be NBCUniversal under new owner Comcast. The new parent company has turfed the peacock and the globe for a simple typographic treatment.

The bird will remain part of the NBC brand while the spinning globe will still be Universal's graphic for consumers. And officially, the company's name is still NBC Universal.

So we go looking for free fonts. There are a lot of cheap knockoffs and some are just plain bad but here is a collection of 25 free fonts used most by designers.

Rio 2016 Olympic logo revealed

So the official logo for the 2016 Olympic games in Rio was unveiled on New Year's Eve. This would be one man's lament of the deterioration of the Olympic logo.

Starbucks unveils new logo

Starbucks celebrates it's 40th anniversary by unveiling a new logo. My first reaction to it was that it lost some dynamism (is that even a word?) with the new logo. The stricking contrast of the green and black was quite nice and although I understand the reasons behind dropping the typographic part of the logo I'm still a little underwhelmed by the change. I'm sure in time it will become one with the universe and no one will think twice about it but I'm still a little sad...
